4 vital requirements in packaging design

To start with new packaging design, I prefer to take a look at what I like to call requirements about the product for product packaging design. For me, the requirements are: attractiveness, message, product visibility, and soul.

Attractiveness is a simple concept, but it is very hard to implement. Depending around the product, the packaging design has to complement the color scheme, shape, and size etc. You also need to take into consideration wherever on the store shelf it might belong. Will you choose placed on an actual shelf or will it be hung? Attractiveness can be relative, but packaging design can be built to reflect the common taste and artistic sensibilities of most.

Message has to do with your overall branding energy. Everything from logo design placement, to the kind of, to even the actual font that can be used for the type is important. The item packaging design must express the cohesiveness that your other promoting assets such because catalogs, website, letterhead, etc... In the event the product needs to get explained to the individual, it must be practiced effectively as you might be competing with other products on your shelf for consumer eye-catching. The product must be described easily and rapidly.

Product Visibility refers back to the ability to really see the product itself. If it's possible and it fits with the item, I like to allow for consumers to start to see the actually product instead of just a picture in the product on the actual packaging design. By allowing the consumer to view the actual item, the consumer can envision themselves with all the product increasing the prospect of a purchase.

Soul is hard to go into detail. The soul with the packaging design to me refers to the many aspects mentioned above earlier. I like to imagine myself as the merchandise (strange, I know) and the product packaging design as my house. Would I feel at ease in this home? Does this residence fit my character? When others discover my home, do they think this residence fits me? If you ask me, the product packaging design and the product itself melt together. They are offered to the buyer as one item, therefore, product presentation and branding total cannot be ignored when performing merchandise design and growth.

So you ultimately have that gleaming new product that you are about to launch onto the store shelves. All of your marketing material is prepared and the sales team cannot wait to get started on courting retail purchasers. At this place, I hope the labels are not neglected. The product packaging design can make or even break a product. Consumers may even if it's just try your product (it could be the best of it's kind in the entire world) simply because your packaging design is not really pretty or will not convey the appropriate message.
